In 1888, before leaving for a trip around the world, Frédéric Boucheron gave his beloved wife a necklace in the shape of a snake, symbolising her love and protection. The necklace, designed to watch over Gabrielle in her husband's absence, thus became a veritable talisman for the house, marking the beginning of a strong inspiration and making the snake an iconic Boucheron motif. Renowned as a sculptor of gold, Boucheron uses a snake as if animated in its creations, with textured gold adding depth and movement.
